Brigadier Bingo Hall Shut Down By State

The New York State Racing and Wagering Board on Thursday revoked the charitable gaming licenses of the Syracuse Brigadiers for a year, shutting down the multimillion-dollar bingo operation.

The charges include paying people to conduct bingo sessions, improperly spending bingo earnings and organizing the bingo operation in violation of state regulations.

Bill would ban electronic bingo in Wyoming

Lawmakers have drafted a bill that would outlaw electronic bingo, and already it is being assailed by bingo-parlor owners.

Getting rid of electronic bingo would cut deeply into fund-raising by nonprofits, the owners say, and could cause the demise of many charities.

The Legislature's Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee voted 8-6 Monday to sponsor the bill during this winter's legislative session.

The bill would crack down on bingo that's played by computer instead of the old-fashioned way, where balls with numbers are drawn.

The "real winners" will be big-name international investors, says the report by Sheffield Hallam University.

The research was carried out before the government scaled down the number of "super casinos" from 40 to eight.
